Collections

  1. The UMB Digital Archive is a service of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HS/HSL) that collects, preserves, and provides open access to the intellectual output of the University of Maryland.
  2. The Archive contains many types of content, including gray literature, dissertations and theses, annual reports, historical images, oral histories and more.
  3. Works in the Archive are organized in a hierarchy of communities and collections that closely parallels that of the University.  Collections, which contain the actual works, are subordinate to communities.
  4. Each collection will meet these requirements:
    • Collection administrators will work with their community administrators to define which works are eligible for inclusion in the collection.
    • Collection administrators will work with archive staff to establish workflows for adding works to the collection.
    • All works submitted to any collection are bound by the policies of the UMB Digital Archive.  Collection administrators may create additional guidelines for their collections that do not conflict with those policies.
