The Houston Astros may have won the World Series, but not at the HS/HSL! We just don’t care.
And the big winner is the 5th floor with 29 votes, followed by the 1st floor with 20 votes. Our other floors garnered some nice comments but did not come close in the tally. From the notes you left it … Continue reading
We loved all of the responses this one got! And, we think we have a winner, the blue task chairs (with arm rests) got the most love by far. We’re not even counting all those votes! Continue reading
With season 7 of the popular TV show Game of Thrones drawing to a close in August, we were interested in which well-known book series had produced the best film or TV adaptation. Somewhat surprisingly given all the recent hype, Game of Thrones only came in third place out of four among our voters. The Harry Potter movies came in second place, and the Lord of the Rings films were the clear favorites. The James Bond movies were the most unloved, garnering only six votes. It seems we have many Tolkien fans out there!
Don’t miss your chance to weigh in on our current poll about the best chairs in the library – come by and vote! Continue reading
There are lots of options out there for citation management software, and we wanted to know which one you like best! RefWorks is available for free to the UMB community through HS/HSL, and EndNote is now available at a discount through the campus technology office. If you want to learn more about how to use citation managers to save time while writing, talk to a librarian or attend one of our workshops! Continue reading

Perhaps this result reflects the number of people who are still loyal fans of the Grey’s Anatomy TV show after all these years… Regardless of which version you prefer, we have a wide variety of anatomy atlases available for checkout.
Be sure to stop by the library to weigh in on our current poll, RefWorks vs. EndNote for citation management! Continue reading
In one of our most decisive polls yet, it is clear we have a lot of OLD BAY® fans here! Most of you do not believe this Maryland-born seasoning should only be used on steamed crabs. However, the crabs-only folks are not without some support, as the original name of OLD BAY® was “Delicious Brand Shrimp and Crab Seasoning.”¹ Those more adventurous in using the seasoning suggested french fries and pizza – any other ideas?

A question for the ages. Should the toilet paper roll hang under or over? It is clear from our scientific polling that most of you prefer that it hang over. In fact, it was proven that this was the original intent by a patent image of the designer’s clear diagram showing that toilet paper should hang over. The end. Continue reading
