Through the end of February, the Weise Gallery will feature the art of painter, Michelle Hagewood. Hagewood, a 2002 graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art and a rural Tennessee native, draws largely on “her inventive family and friends for inspiration” accessing “the strategies of childhood when …solving problems.” Hagewood’s acrylic and canvas paintings are both fanciful and organic and she strives to “capture windows into an alternative world.”
Hagewood is currently the Education Coordinator for Children and Family Programs at the Walters Art Museum. “Every now and then we have an exhibit in the gallery that just fits.” Says M.J. Tooey, HS/HSL Executive Director. “And this one, with its patterns and colors, is just perfect!”
There will be a celebration of the opening of the exhibit on January 27 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
