Native plants are those that have evolved naturally within a region over thousands of years. These natives support the area&#8217;s natural balance and wildlife and are a more sustainable alternative in your garden.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The botanicals in <\/span>&#8220;Home Grown&#8221;<span data-contrast=\"auto\"> were selected from Bentley and Trimen\u2019s <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Medicinal Plants<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, Curtis\u2019 <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Botanical Magazine<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lectures on Botany<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and Woodville\u2019s <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Medicinal Botany. <\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These volumes are part of the HSHSL\u2019s Historical Collections\u2019 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.hshsl.umaryland.edu\/hshsl\/resources\/historical\/pharmacy\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Pharmacy Collection<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, which includes influential pharmacy and medical texts, dispensatories, pharmacopoeias, botanicals, and herbals from around the world.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The calendar was designed by Thom Pinho, lead instructional technology specialist, while the content was written and provided by Tara Wink, historical collections librarian and archivist with help from Summer 2024 YouthWorks intern Anisah Allen.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A limited number of calendars will be <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/secure.touchnet.net\/C20174_ustores\/web\/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCTID=119&amp;SINGLESTORE=true\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">for sale<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> on our website for $10.
