Courtesy of Vintage Books.<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Join the <strong>Student Success Center<\/strong> and the <strong>Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HSHSL)<\/strong> for a special program inspired by Tommy Orange\u2019s national bestseller and <strong>Pulitzer Prize finalist<\/strong> novel \u201cThere There.\u201d This event will feature <strong>Keith Colston<\/strong>, administrative director of the <strong>Maryland Commission on Indian Affairs<\/strong>, who will speak about Native life in Maryland today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Event Details<\/strong><br>\ud83d\udcc5 <strong>Tuesday, Nov. 11<\/strong><br>\ud83d\udd5b <strong>Noon to 1:30 p.m.<\/strong><br>\ud83d\udccd <strong>HSHSL, Weise Gallery, First Floor<\/strong><br>\ud83d\udd17 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/umaryland.campusgroups.com\/SSC\/rsvp_boot?id=2254863\">Register to attend<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The session will connect themes from the novel to contemporary experiences in Maryland, including <strong>history<\/strong>, <strong>policy<\/strong>, and <strong>community life<\/strong>. A display of <strong>Lumbee regalia<\/strong> will accompany the talk. Colston will also discuss the Commission\u2019s work across <strong>education<\/strong>, <strong>health<\/strong>, <strong>employment<\/strong>, and <strong>public safety<\/strong>. A <strong>question-and-answer session<\/strong> will follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A limited number of copies of \u201cThere There\u201d will be available for attendees. The HSHSL has also made an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/usmai-hshsl.primo.exlibrisgroup.com\/permalink\/01USMAI_HSHSL\/1f69g32\/alma9963914812508243\">online version available<\/a><\/strong> for the campus community.
