Serving as the Dean and Associate Vice Provost for the Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HSHSL), Emily J. Hurst provides leadership, sets priorities and creates vision for the academic health sciences and human services library serving users of the present and preparing for the needs of the future. She has a passion for working collaboratively with colleagues to support the research and instruction needs of the students, faculty and staff of the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Emily is also committed to ensuring the library is an access point to resources that support the wellbeing of the Baltimore and the larger Maryland community. She provides advocacy and support for library employees and seeks to find collaborative solutions to ensure the library meets the needs of all users.
In her role as the Director for the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM), Region 1 and Director for the NNLM, Network Web Services Office (NWSO) Emily works with a dynamic team to provide programmatic leadership that facilitates broad access to high-quality health information for the Network members of Region 1 and the NNLM program at large.
