Life and Limb: The Toll of the American Civil War Now at the HS/HSL Weise Gallery
Now through January 7th the Weise Gallery is housing, Life and Limb: The Toll of the American Civil War exhibit. The exhibit highlights the experience of injured soldiers during the Civil War and the years following and focuses on disabled veterans and their roles as symbols of a fractured nation. This exhibit is sponsored by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health.
Library Holiday Hours
Please note that the HS/HSL will close at 5 pm on Wednesday, November 23rd and will remain closed on Thursday and Friday, November 24th-25th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Regular Weekend hours will resume on Saturday, November 26th.

Try Quertle: A different way to search PubMed
Quertle uses advanced semantics to find results in PubMed. It is especially useful for questions that focus on relationships such as cause and effect. Along with PubMed, Quertle also includes whitepapers, full-text articles from BioMed Central and more. You can find the link to Quertle in our A-Z list of databases. Try it out .
AskUs! New and Improved
The HS/HSL AskUs! service is using new software that allows the user to find answers in a knowledge base before they even send us a request. We’ve included information from our FAQ’s and How do I? pages so you can search keywords and find answers instantly. If you still need our help, we will respond quickly. It brings together the ability to email, chat and now even text us questions at 410-695-6362. Try it out!
Halloween with Harry Potter

Potions Class for Harry Potter Enthusiasts
Ever wish you could take potions class like Harry Potter? Take a break from your academic routine at the HS/HSL on Wednesday, October 19th for the next event in the Harry Potter Series.
Lecture: The Medicinal Magic of Modern Compounding: Potions Class for the 21st Century
Richard Dalby, Professor and Associate Dean, School of Pharmacy
Wednesday October 19th, 12:oo pm – 1:00 pm, Distance Education Room Lower Level (LL02)
Professors Richard Dalby and James Polis will provide a modern twist on Potions Class by explaining how pharmacists compound medications to meet critical patients care needs. Using colored dyes in place for drugs, they will demonstrate how creams, thermosetting gels, powder papers or capsules can deliver customized medications to patients.
