NIH’s Office of Extramural Research has a blog posting with an update on the NIH Public Access Policy and compliance efforts. It announces that the compliance measures outlined in the November guide notice will be implemented for all awards with anticipated start dates on or after July 1, 2013 (see NIH Guide Notice NOT-13-042).

There are two new tutorials available from the HS/HSL that will help you install and use the newest version of Write-N-Cite from RefWorks. Write-N-Cite allows you to insert citations from your RefWorks account into papers you are writing and will create your reference lists.

UMid login problems have been resolved. Off-site access to Library resources, campus wireless, Blackboard, UM portal are all available.
Access to HS/HSL resources from off-campus is currently down. The UM wireless network, access to Blackboard and the UM portal is also down. Campus IT is working to resolve the problem.
You can now log in to HS/HSL resources from the Shady Grove web page by choosing “University of Maryland, Baltimore” from the drop-down list of libraries and then “Login.”
Shady Grove students and faculty are currently experiencing problems accessing HS/HSL resources through ResearchPort. As a work-around we suggest that you go directly to the Library’s homepage at: http://www.hshsl.umaryland.edu to access databases and journals until the matter is resolved.

ScienceDirect is currently experiencing a service outage due to unforeseen technical issues and is working to resolve them as soon as possible.
The HS/HSL will be offering a variety of workshops throughout the Spring Semester. Topics covered will include, RefWorks, Embase in 30, and NIH Public Access Policy. Help the HS/HSL improve our new search tool!
Volunteer to help us examine the navigation and organization of the HS/HSL’s Discovery Service Search Tool. You will spend no more than an hour completing several tasks using the discovery tool. Your input will help us make changes and improvements to the tool!
All volunteers will receive a $5 gift card to Au Bon Pain!
