February marks the celebration of a month long focus on Children’s Dental Health, while the month of March focuses on celebrating reading. Why not celebrate both at the same time! It is a perfect opportunity to use a new list of 22 recommended children’s books on oral health created by the Maryland Dental Action Coalition in conjunction with the Health Sciences & Human Services Library (HS/HSL). The book list supports increased access to oral health information for children, families and health professionals and provided guidance to those who purchase and utilize children’s books to promote oral health. Access the list online here. Every book is available for check out at the HS/HSL!

Explore Virtual Reality at the HS/HSL
Come investigate the possibilities of virtual reality with the HS/HSL’s Google Cardboard headsets!
Google Cardboard is a low-cost virtual reality platform by Google that consists of a fold-out cardboard viewer and a number of smartphone apps. The viewer is used by placing a smartphone with a Google Cardboard app into the back of it and viewing through the lenses in the front.
There are a number of Google Cardboard viewers in the HS/HSL Innovation Space that are available on a first-come-first-serve basis for use in the library.

Each has a silver handle on the back and rear wheels to easily move them to your spot of choice. We’ve found that students are already using them for study and group chats.
