DSM-V and Psychiatry Online Now Available

Psychiatry Online is a web-based portal that gives access to many psychiatric references including the DSM-IV and the American Journal of Psychiatry. Other references included in Psychiatry Online are American Psychiatric Association Practice Guidelines, self-assessment tools for study, board, and recertification review, and medication information handouts for patients. OpenHelix, Available July 1st! Learn to Effectively Use Bioinformatics & Genomics Resources

OpenHelix, available July 1st, will help you learn to effectively use bioinformatics and genomics resources. This new database provides:

  • over 100 narrated video tutorials and training materials on bioinformatics and genomics databases and tools (KEGG, UniProt, dbSNP, etc.).
  • access to brief video tips on features and functions of bioinformatics tools through the OpenHelix blog and newsletter.

July 1st – PsycINFO Moving to EBSCO

On July 1st, the Library’s subscription to PsycInfo will be switching from Ovid to EBSCO.  The new interface is already available for you to begin using.

If you are a frequent user of PsycInfo and have any saved searches or alerts, you will need to log in to your account and take a screenshot of your saved searches or print them out for future reference, as they will be unavailable beginning on July 1.  Similar to Ovid, EBSCO allows you to create a personal account and save searches performed in its databases.

MedEdPORTAL from AAMC Now Available in Databases

MedEdPORTAL is a free, cross-indexed suite of services provided by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Through Publications, iCollaborative, and the CE Directory, MedEdPORTAL aims to equip healthcare professionals with effective and efficient educational tools to improve patient care. Publications maintain a rigorous peer review process. Modules submitted to Publications are considered “stand-alone” and complete, have been classroom tested and are ready for implementation by members at their own institutions.

HS/HSL Closed 5/25/13 – 5/27/13 For Memorial Day Weekend

The HS/HSL will be closed from Saturday, May 25th through Monday, May 27th in recognition of the Memorial Day holiday.  We will resume our regular summer hours on Tuesday, May 28th.

The HS/HSL will be offering workshops over the summer semester. Topics covered include Communicating with Patients, Embase in 30, NIH Public Access Policy, and RefWorks. Registration is FREE to all UMB, Faculty, Students, and Staff, UMMC Staff, and Corporate members.
