FACT: Only 12% of the U.S. adult population has proficient health literacy.

Are you aware of your patients’ ability to understand and act on the information you give them?

This workshop covers the basics of health literacy & clear communication including tools that will assist you in creating easy-to-read materials. Also incorporated will be an opportunity for attendees to practice putting difficult medical jargon into plain language.

Thursday, September 13, 10:30 a.m.  Exhibit Opening, Press Conference, located in the HS/HSL’s Weise Gallery on the first floor.  Please RSVP HERE. Refreshments will be served.

Thursday, October 4, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Flu shots available to UMB campus employees and students in the 1st Floor Tower of the Library.  Please bring your insurance information.

RefWorks Transition Announcement

The Health Sciences and Human Services Library’s subscription to RefWorks will end on June 30, 2019. At that time you will no longer be able to log into the RefWorks system, so if you have citations stored in RefWorks you will need to transfer them out before that date. If you need assistance transitioning away from RefWorks to another citation management system, please see the below resources:

Librarians are also available to provide departmental trainings as needed. For questions or to schedule a training, please contact your school’s librarian or email refworks@hshsl.umaryland.edu.
