Thank you all for the wonderful turn-out to the Outbreak opening exhibit.

Communicating With Patients Workshop: 9/25 and 10/30

FACT: Only 12% of the U.S. adult population has proficient health literacy.

Are you aware of your patients’ ability to understand and act on the information you give them?

This workshop covers the basics of health literacy & clear communication including tools that will assist you in creating easy-to-read materials. Also incorporated will be an opportunity for attendees to practice putting difficult medical jargon into plain language.

Thursday, September 13, 10:30 a.m.  Exhibit Opening, Press Conference, located in the HS/HSL’s Weise Gallery on the first floor.  Please RSVP HERE. Refreshments will be served.

Thursday, October 4, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Flu shots available to UMB campus employees and students in the 1st Floor Tower of the Library.  Please bring your insurance information.

Flu clinic provided by Walgreens in collaboration with the School of Pharmacy and the HS/HSL. Please RSVP HERE.

RefWorks Transition Announcement

The Health Sciences and Human Services Library’s subscription to RefWorks will end on June 30, 2019. At that time you will no longer be able to log into the RefWorks system, so if you have citations stored in RefWorks you will need to transfer them out before that date. If you need assistance transitioning away from RefWorks to another citation management system, please see the below resources:

Librarians are also available to provide departmental trainings as needed. For questions or to schedule a training, please contact your school’s librarian or email refworks@hshsl.umaryland.edu.

Research services are now front and center on the Health Sciences and Human Services Library’s refreshed home page, increasing the visibility of the many research services we have to offer.  It’s now easier than ever to schedule a library research consultation, collaborate on a systematic review, use the High Performance Computer or iSpace, print a poster, and much more.

Arranged in four themes – Help With Your Research, Publish and Present Your Research, Increase the Impact of Your Research, and Bioinformatics and Innovative Technologies – there are 15 distinct services available to ensure your research success.
