Whiteboard Project: What Healthy Vending Options Would You Like to See?

The Library Genie was asked for healthy vending options, so we decided to see what you would prefer.

Clif BARS were the winner, with KIND bars, kale chips, and Boom Chicka Pop following closely behind.

The Genie likes Oreos too, but believes they fall more into the delicious than the healthy category.

PS: Have you seen the Oreo Peeps? Wow.

For All the People: A Century of Citizen Action in Health Care Reform Exhibit

The National Library of Medicine is pleased to present our latest traveling exhibition, For All The People: A Century of Citizen Action in Health Care Reform. Health care reform has been a contentious political issue in the United States for more than a hundred years. From the beginning of the 20th century to today, citizens have made their voices heard in these debates. For All the People tells the lesser-known story of how movements of ordinary people helped shape the changing American health care system.

The six-banner traveling exhibition highlights images from over one hundred years of citizen action for health care reform.  It will be on display in the HS/HSL Weise Gallery from February 12, 2018 – March 24, 2018.

The HS/HSL has put together a toolkit of information for entrepreneurs and innovators on campus interested in learning more about intellectual property, starting their own company, innovating, and other related topics.

The guide was constructed with the help of innovative individuals at UMB and is a “work in progress” to be updated with future suggestions from innovators around campus who would like to contribute to our toolkit.

If you know of a resource that would make a nice addition to the toolkit please email us entre@hshsl.umaryland.edu .  If you are including a webpage or website that you are directly responsible for please include permission for us to link to it.

Whiteboard Project: Which Home Remedy Works Best?

During this cold and flu season, we wondered which home remedy works for you. Ginger ale for an upset stomach? Check! (13 votes)  Gargling with salt water for a scratchy throat? Check! (14 votes) Drinking tea with honey (and whiskey) for a sore throat? The undeniable winner with 21 votes.  That whiskey bit was a write-in from someone who will remain anonymous, but it appeared to carry the day. Cheers.
